What Is Coaching? Really??

We hear the term "coaching" often in today's workplace. We know that managers should be coaches to their employees, but what does coaching really involve? In both sports and academic competitions coaches rally up their teams and help ensure success. It’s the same in business. Bottom line, an effective coach in the workplace has a genuine interest in helping others improve their performances. It could be teaching an employee a new task or skill, guiding a coworker through a difficult workplace challenge, helping facilitate a necessary change, recharging a colleague’s motivation or, perhaps most importantly, collaborating with employees on their individual career paths. In short, successful coaches work with and through others to increase organizational performance, ensure productive workplace relationships and enhance employee development.

Coaching is such a long process. Not all teachers can do that as what I have experienced. You have to have the heart to CARE and realize that you are also their mentor, you lead by example and keep a positive attitude. Easy to say but it can be done if the Instructor/teacher wants  productivity and success from his/her students.

As a Teacher we are our students mentors.  At the same time we need a good coach and leader.  Someone to lead us when needed.  The more we surround ourselves with a positive attitude the happier and more positive we will be with our students especially in those trying times.  I happen to work in a place where I love my job and see what the rewards are when those students walk at graduation. 

Coaching allows one to guide a person to accomplish objectives in a less threatening manner. Making demands and leaving it up to the individual to do it on his own can be very confusing and frustrating for some. It take a more active role for the success of the person. I believe it is better because it can focus the individual's success better and is less frustrating to him.
