Collective responsibility

The success of our students’ employment is influenced by many structural barriers; however the school should begin modeling behaviors and addressing  skills needed to enter the work force beyond what is offer in the curriculum.

I agree

@jefferywood :

I fully agree. it does take both technical skills and soft skills to be employer ready.

Modeling behavior is a must with our students and if they see this everyday out of everyone on campus they will more easily adapt to these behaviors.

I agree. As Educators we have to set the tone for leadership.

I believe a fundamental of all education is not just the instruction, teaching and learning but the mentoring that should go along side it

Ditto.  We not only need to model the behavior, we need to remember that the students may not "get it" until they are in the workplace.  While they may not behave in the classroom, I've seen my share of those who do once on their externship.  It gives me hope... and the ability to keep my mouth shut on those days when I'm ready to snap back at the class clowns with stinging and painfully true sarcastic remarks.
