ED106 - Students with Learning Disabilities

I enjoyed the ED106 module - especially the section/emphasis on students with learning disabilities.  What was once an exception to deal with in the classroom, is now becoming a reality to all instructors.  As we advance in the diagnosis and treatments of various learning disabilities, we are seeing an increase of affected students in the classroom.

I really liked the outline of the most common learning disabilities we are most likely to encounter in the academic arena, and the strategies to provide a learning environment that gives all students the opportunity to learn while maintaining an inclusive atmosphere.  I think sometimes in our busy lives we account problems and student challenges to "one sheep in the pen", when in fact, we may be dealing with the product of an unknown learning disability.  I think being both aware of all your students (and the signs that there may be something going on), coupled with the listed strategies in the ED106 course - can provide a good starting point for being effective instructors in the ever-growing dynamics of all students.

This was very helpful. Most relevant to the school where I work and the typical student body. Good idea about putting test info in boxes for students with reading difficulties.

This was a good refresher course for a veteran teacher.  I found that it reinforced many of my teaching practices and reminded me of the reality of students with disabilities and how to work effective with them.  It is always good to be repetitive and thorough in the process of learning.

I just completed ED 106.  I have been utilizing the techniques in the classroom such as floating about the room.

I have enjoyed this class.  I espically enjoyed the section on learning disabilities and the specific clasifications.  Very insightful. There were many wonderful ideas on how to assist these students.
