Technology in the Class Room

I enjoy intergrating the internet and power point. What do you use?

If necessary, I integrate the internet in the classroom. One particular subject in the dental class involved "Effective Telephone technique training" learning how to answer the phone the proper way" by Paul Ganjian.  Very helpful to students.

Hi Butch,

I incorporate videos and video critiques into my classes. I use Snagit for the critiques, save them to my desktop and then upload to youtube. I also provide video for instruction or clarification of a topic. Here's a "sample" of a video I would post within my classroom:

I do not know what "other" videos you can see within my youtube but the point is... youtube is free and creating videos for those who are visual learners is a great way to help. None of the student videos critiques should be visible. If they are... please let me know.

Terry

I am just now starting to integrate this kind of technology. Thank you for the tip to use Snagit, save and upload to youtube. I will try this!

Since I teach a computer course, I find that youtube videos help the students understand the chapter material. Also the book comes with a CD with excellent chapter tutorials. I suggest these to students if they miss a chapter lecture introduction.

I have also relied on the Internet and teach a Journalism class.  So I am able to keep students current by employing information from Twitter, Facebook, Zaba and LinkedIn to show them how quickly and easily reporters can now access vital information.  But it's also a good reminder of how important it is for them to be educated about privacy regarding their own Social Networking pages.

I will say that being an old dog, it was hard for me to start using PPT I was used to writing on the board & being able to engage my students I thought fine. When I started using the PPT, I was amazed at what I could do & get my subject through on a different level. I started experimenting with media & now I can say I am comfortable using most forms. I even have gotten pretty good with the smart board. So old dogs can learn new tricks!

This is a great discussion.  You might be interested in this previous blog post that shared the Top 100 Tools for Learning 2012.  Take a look here: http://lwire.us/?l=GRQT
