In studying this model, I have learnt that ‘Alignment with Academic Core Standards, is a process that entails the validation of educational curriculum, teaching strategies and assessments and ensuring that they are in alignment with established academic standards. These standards list the knowledge and skills that students are expected to acquire at various grade levels in different subject areas. Here is how I will effectively apply alignment with academic core standards in my curriculum: In the first instance, I will write clear objectives for each lesson that definitely reference the aligned standards. I will also prepare instructional activities that will align with the standards which may include hands-on activities, direct instructions or group work. More importantly, I will also design clear rubrics that are in line with the standards to provide transparency criteria for evaluation. Finally, I will work with fellow educators to share strategies, resources and best practices. for aligning the curriculum with academic standards. Collaborative discussions can provide new insights and ideas.
