denise, How will you use the Learning Taxonomy as a guide for the course(s) that you teach? Tremayne Simpson

denise, Thank you for your post. Overall, students appreciate having the opportunity to provide their opinion of the course direction. Periodic surveys (during the course) can be used to compile students' suggestions and feedback. Tremayne Simpson
Phillip, Thank you for your observation. Lesson plans can also be used as "timelines", in which an instructor can review their progress from the inception of teaching a course. The instructor can use their lesson plans as evidence (during annual reviews), that they have added to the content of a particular course, over time. Tremayne Simpson
Phillip, This is a great way to assess individual student learning styles. In addition, "Socratic questioning" throughout the lecture/demonstration can be effective in gaging the overall comprehension of the students, during a lesson. Thank you for your post. Tremayne Simpson
denise, This is a great way to create a bond with the other instructors and to discuss "best practices" in course instruction. Also, the students will be see consistency in grading measurements, because many of their instructor share and discuss their assessment tools. Thank you for your post. Tremayne Simpson
Dar- I agree with your post. However, how can instructors find ways to assess learning objectives that were not created by them, individually? In many career colleges, the learning objectives are created for the instructor and they have to find ways to create activities and assessments, that adhere to the pre-determined objectives.
Dar- E-courses and online-based learning tools work as excellent supplements for developmental or 100-level classes. The material in the supplements, can be used to "refresh" the student's knowledge-base in the subject matter.
Dar- Thank you for your post and I agree with your assessment. In addition, lesson plans can be used to share ideas and collaborate with fellow instructors, that are teaching in a similar discipline.
Dar- An initial assessment is a great way to understand the varying levels of your students. Also, the assessment can be used a "prescriptive" tool that can be helpful to the instructor, in regards to their lesson planning. If a consensus of the students are having difficulty with a particular concept (i.e. fractions, decimals, etc), then the instructor can adapt the lesson plans to adhere to the needs of the students.
Dar- Many instructors have difficulty with diversifying their instructional approaches for development courses, however you have provided excellent examples of innovative and subtle techniques.
