HI Kate We really like the idea that you are making the job interview process so much fun. We like the multiple interviews and the time limits. In addition to giving a variety of experiences it forces the student to think concisely. Do you have any instant feedback comments so students can hear from employers what works and what doesn't. What other "games" can be added to all employment skills training? Best wishes, Susan

Hi Kate and Suzanne Getting people to respond to surveys is always a challenge. Here are a few more ideas - Link completing the survey with satisfactory completion of course. For online surveys, keep them short and let people know how long it will take. You can often increase motivation if people are told it will only take 2 minutes from their day. Also make the online surveys easy to use and access. Best wishes, Susan

Hi Kate Good definition of measure of success. Our thought is to keep redefining and understanding it. As to surveys, it is often what you do with the information. We strongly believe the information has to be disseminated throughout the school, discussed, and then analyzed as to what changes may need to be made. Then put changes in place and measure measure measure! Best wishes Susan

HI Suhas We really like the idea of resume assignments, grading, and also periodic updating. It gives students to opportunity to see that they are growing and developing as they complete their training. It could have really positive effects on retention and self concept. Employment skills training is more than resume writing, as you know. As to the "what not to do" on an interview, it sounds very cute and certainly attention getting and relieves stress. Sometimes when showing what not to do people are not always clear. Or they remember but don't know if what was taught was good… >>>

Hi Valerie Very interesting. Can you tell us what programs your school trains for. Your Student Services Director must be doing a good job regardless of exactly what that is. And we would certainly like to know. Since you are in the community for 30 years it may be that over time your school is seen as "the" school to look to for qualified job applicants. You have the opportunity to learn a lot about what grads do, their starting salary, job promotion and enhancement, and more. The stats can be very helpful with marketing. Best wishes, Susan
Hi Jennifer and Irina It would be great to share resources and all create a model Career Development Course. It's important to make them fun and interactive. We have found that JIST publishing has lots of good resources as well as other publishers. Best wishes, Susan

Hi Rayyan Great to hear that your placement department is doing so well. What kinds of surveys are you using to measure all areas of service and student and employer satisfaction? How are you using the results? We think it is a great idea to train interested students and grads in how to set up and market their own businesses - entrepreneurship. We feel that there are many careers where self-employment is an option and highly desired. In fact, mature students may be highly attracted to training that will result in choices of full or part-time work or setting up… >>>

Great Michele, How do you use the results? Who does the information get sent to? And what changes have you made? Also have you asked employers to take any roles at the school such as give presentations, hold mock interviews, etc. Best wishes, Susan
HI Susan What type of programs do you offer? Sounds like it includes training where people can work on their own. If so, suggest you hold classes or workshops on how to set up ones business, network, market, etc. Also how to manage the slow times and what to do when they are too busy to think about the next client. We may have more ideas when we know the type of training you offer. Best wishes, Susan
