Tisha, You bring up some very good points. Providing anything (content, feedback, etc.) are all best provided in a variety of ways - your are right. Any type of individualized attention you can provide to students is helpful. Providing such feedback in a timely manner is best as well. Thank you.
Chris, Getting feedback from a variety of sources is excellent because we all look at things differently and can provide feedback from a different point of view. Use all the feedback you can get. Providing the extra chat may provide you with even more feedback. Nice job. Thanks!
Chris, You bring up good points for discussion. Being positive is essential in that we do not want to discourage learning, but improve the process. Helping students be successful and providing outlets for them to research are great strategies. Thanks!

Chris, You are absolutely correct. In the last class I taught online, I used the Blackboard Discussion Boart, Twitter, and Facebook and it was interesting to see which students used which method. It did create more work for me as an instructor, but it provided essential outlets for students. Thanks for you input.

Danita, Thank you for your well-thought out response. You provide much information to enhance the discussion. I love that you are clear on using rubrics to help communicate epectations and be consistent in your evaluation. An authentic classroom is essential for adult learning. Excellent! Thank you.
Janelle, The 2 x 2 strategy is a great one. The constructive criticism is necessary to help students improve, but starting with "good" things helps stay on a positive note. The key in what you said is "specific" feedback. You are on target. Thanks!

Janelle, You have hit on some core components. They basically are: course objectives, providing content in a variety of ways, and providing feedback through assessment (whether formative or summative). Nice job. Thanks!
Stephen, You bring up a good point about being honest in your feedback while providing valid feedback. There is a fine line between being honest and too bold at times, but when you put yourself in the students' shoes, you become empathetic at the same time. I love your bonus question idea. It does provide more insight on the students' thinking and using it in the exam revision process is excellent. Thanks!

Chris, Starting with the objectives is definitely the first step. Also, varying how you get the message across to the students is essential for the variety of learners you will have in the online classroom. Your third point about the audience is essential and can be done through a diagnostic survey at the beginning of the course. Nice job.
Gayle, I agree. Getting input from others who have taught the course are as essential as student feedback. In my opinion, the more feedback the better no matter where it comes from. Nice job. Thanks!
