Earle, There are a variety of evaluations and it is important to find what works for you. Sometimes it's student feedback, others peer feedback, etc. Thanks!

Earle, I like the way you provide your information. 1) Organized 2) To the point 3) Helpful Thank you!
Earle, Right on with your "constructive and not destructive." Starting with the positive, but giving feedback that helps students grow is necessary. Thanks!

Earle, You are correct in discussing organization (content/flow). This affects how you provide information and how students receive information. Good point. They must also, as you noted, understand the course outcomes and what is expected of them. Thanks for your input.
Aaron, Student evaluations are very important. You must develop a way to see if they are learning the course objectives and if they can "do the job." If you have the opportunity to get feedback from people who hire them, that would be valuable too. Thanks!
Aaron, Right on. Being timely in your feedback is important. I think it's also essential that you tell your students what "timely" is - 24 hours, 48 hours or whatever standard you set. Connecting the feedback to the objectives helps the students understand why they are doing what they are doing. Nice job.

Aaron, Thanks for your input. I like your description of "blah blah" information. You are so right. Sometimes those new to teaching online try to put "stuff" out there just to "fill up" a course and it only becomes distracting. Obviously you understand that organization, clear expectations and laout are essential. Thanks again.

Karen, You are right on when you discuss tone as a factor in feedback. It's important to start with something positive, but still give constructive criticism to help students grow from the process. Setting up a schedule is great for online learning. I tell my students they will get feedback on discussion board postings within 24 hours, but many graded assignments take more time. But, I always let them know when they can expect your response. Rubrics are very helpful sto students can evaluate their own work before turning it in. And, you can be more consistent in your feedback… >>>

Karen, Thanks for your input. You have included very pertinent components in your response. When I look at your 5 components together, it lets me know that you understand how important it is for students to understand what is expected of them, how they will be assessed, and that feedback from you will help them grow in their learning. Nice job.
Robert, Thanks for you input. There are so many types of evaluations and we all have to find what works for us and our students, but of course, what measures what we are tying to measure. Thanks again.
