Melinda , Ah, but the rubric is also good for the students. It helps them understand the expecations as well and move toward the learning outcomes. Thanks for your input.

Melinda , Yes, understanding your audience - in this case your students - is essential. The more we know about ourselves and others, the better the communication and learning. Thanks for your input.
Edward, Correct. The more methods we use to get feedback, the more of a variety of feedback that we get. This can be very constructive in the course revision process. Thanks for your input.

Karen, The short bio you have students write can lead to a better understanding of students. Many times I have students do this on a discussion board that all can see and then have other students find commonmalities between their bio and two of their peers' bios. It begins to develop some community. Keep up the good work.

Nathan, Ah, love the term - "seal of quality." It's a key element for both the instructor and student as you noted. Nice job.

Karen, Yes, right one. The rubric helps both the instructor and the students. It helps the instructor not only grade more consistenly, but review the project/assignment to make sure all necessary components are included. Nice job.

Nathan, You are right. We are all different and many times it's not easy to see the subtle differences. Understanding your audience, your students, is key to developing the professional relationship, building community and providing students with what they need to succeed. Thanks for your input.
Danita, The word "pattern" is key. With clear, consistent, frequent, constructive feedback, we develop an environment to help students learn. As I read your response to this posting, I could see a section in your syllabus describing basically the same thing to the students. The better they understand the expectations not only of the course, but the communication within the course, the more effective the communication will be. Excellent.
Nathan, Frequent, meaningful, constructive, impactful, timely, consistent, etc. are all key words that can describe effective communication. This hleps provide the structure and support the students need. Nice job.
Melinda , There are many aspects to effective communication and you hit the nail on the head with your comments. We have to be clear in our communication to help alleviate misunderstandings and can do that through our tone and demeanor. Nice job.
