Activity

Mnemonics have been effective not only for myself but for the students as well.  The students seem to enjoy making up their own to remember what was taught in class.

Reviewing the material on a daily basis is good for both the student and instructor.   It keeps everyone on track.

Having knowledge of the different learning preferences will help me understand and shape my learning plans for the students.

I enjoyed relearning how the adult brain works again. I will have to readjust my teaching techniques when it comes to my adult students.

We need to remember that ELL student's culture, race, and religion can affect the way students learn.

ELL students at times will need more time to comprehend the assignments, quizzes, and exams that are given to them.  We need to remember that English is their second language.

You need to make the ELL student feel comfortable and by doing this they will feel more engaged throughout the course.  Never make them feel like you are speaking to them as a child, they are not children.  They are learning another language!

Building a safe environment for the ELL student will help them feel more relaxed while they are learning.  Having a good support structure has helped ELL students succeed as well.

Working with ELL students can be difficult at times but very rewarding for those who take the time to teach them.  Having different cultures and backgrounds can be challenging but it will make you a better instructor in the end.

I have found that working with multigenerational can benefit all.  The older can teach the younger and vice versa.  They all have something in common even though they are from different generations.
