It is important to incorporate formative & summative course input and pull from archived class LMS info on an as needed basis.  This is important because as I've found, what works for one class may not work for the next.

I see now where group interactions are critical for online learning.  I plan on incorporating more personal messages as well as more opportunities for students to interact in groups.

in order to eliminate overload, one can still adhere to the work required if they include a discussion board for "after hours" support that could come AFTER office hours.

One must set-up time managment protocols in order to compartmentalize the day.  I plan on implementing that in turning off notifications & preparing a task list for each day.

I've learned here how important it is to establish the goals of the course and how to translate this information to students.  One such way will be to create sub-groups within the class that will help to facilitate Q&A where it pertains to online learning principals.

Social networking can work in an online format when used properly.  Students should be pointed to now to "brand" themselves in the process.  I plan to use LinkedIn to allow students to create a profile where they plan on how their goals can be realized.

When engaging with others, whether in person or remotely, soft skills are imperative.  It's important to set the guidelines as to what is appropriate communication in a variety of online formats in order for students to understand boundaries and proper netiquette.  I plan to apply this in Rubrics.

It's clear that much more planning and preperation is required on the part of the instructor & student with virtual learning than F2F.  I plan on utilizing my experience in having taking online classes in applying the best practices I've experienced there.

I've learned of the importance of having a rubric for all gradeable aspects to the class, and that http://rubistar.4teachers.org/index.php is an online tool where one can easily generate their own rubrics!

To effectively conduct your class online, I've found that the students have to be incentivized in a variety of ways in order to engage them in this challenging learning environment!
