Knowing learning styles will help you as an instructor will help you to understand how your students learn.  You can then apply the appropriate teaching strategies based on their strengths.

As an instructor, you will improve each time yopu teach the same course.  It's a good idea to make notes where improvements can be made throughout your lesson plan to better prepare for the next time.

As an instructor, it is important to lay the foundation of your expectations at the start of the course so students know what is expected.  Within each class there will be a diverse group of students and it is important to be fair and not give preferential treatment to certain ones.

I learned there is a transition for young students that recently graduated from high school and starting a program as an adult.  They have more responsible to hold themselves at a higher standard for self motivation and growth compared to what they were used to in the past.

I learned how valuable the syllabus is to set the expectations for the course so it must be well thought out when it is put together.

It is best to make your lessons come alive with materials to support the course content.  This will gain the students' attention and help them remember what is being presented.

When creating objectives it is important that they can be measured and they can be assessed on.  That is why objectives needs to very specific.

I like the envelope game.  It's easy to organize by breaking the class up into small groups.  It is done to help learn new definitions and terminology.  It engages everyone, tests for accuracy and it's fun because the groups are racing against the clock.

I like the Make Me a Match game.  Classes in the medical field involve a lot of memorization of terms and this is a great activity to do with the class to reinforce new material/vocabulary.  It involves the whole class to help them learn as a group.

I like the ball toss activity to use at the end of class because it engages the students to stand up, everyone gets a turn and the instructor can assess how well the students retained the learning points that were given for that day.
