What do your students think or believe about AI? What are their concerns? We hear a lot about faculty concerns regarding the introduction of AI in the classroom, and I am curious to know what students think about incorporating AI.

I have learned that students and faculty can harness the power of ChatGPT to improve teaching and learning. I will implement AI-generated unfolding case studies, encouraging students to analyze evolving patient scenarios, make clinical decisions, and reflect on outcomes, thereby strengthening engagement, critical thinking, and application of knowledge to realistic nursing practice situations. Students need a teacher who is willing to learn about AI and how to use it to better prepare students for real-life challenges.

In this module, I have learned that ChatGPT enhances education by fostering engagement, critical thinking, and accessible learning resources. I intend to utilize the diverse resources available through ChatGPT to create complex clinical nursing scenarios that enable nursing students to apply critical thinking and clinical reasoning in a classroom setting, thereby preparing them for similar patients in the clinical setting.

I am amazed at the various and useful ways to incorporate ChatGPT into the teaching process. I envision using ChatGPT to create unique case-based nursing scenarios that foster critical thinking, clinical reasoning, and active engagement, enhancing student learning and decision-making skills. I will provide the prompts and lab results. Chat GPT will create diverse scenarios, and I will review and edit them as needed, leveraging my subject matter expertise. 

Learning about AI is crucial for understanding its impact on educators' and students' knowledge and scholarship. Advancements in AI will transform society by enhancing healthcare, improving efficiency, and advancing education, while raising concerns about job displacement, ethical dilemmas, inequality, and data privacy challenges. As an educator, I want to ensure my students enter the workforce with the skills and knowledge they will need to succeed.

 

In institutions of higher education, student retention is enhanced when the faculty is familiar with the concept of students as customers, implements effective communication techniques, and sets guidelines for advising and mentoring students.  Instructors need to focus on the learning needs of the students and realize that academic and non-academic factors influence the success of each student.  The plan is to teach basic nursing skills using multiple methods of instruction.  The students will have a written step-by-step guide for each skill, a video to watch that demonstrates the skill, and then a hands-on method in which the students perform the… >>>
