Sarah , Agreed. I like to have my campuses have one employer on campus every week. The employer can interview, sit on a panel, speak to a class, etc. Any activity that has them interacting with the students. Depending on the size of your Career Services office, you can have each person responsible for one employer a month or ask other departments to assist in scheduling employers/successful alum. Sarah , You are correct about the more stringent oversight on placement outcomes. Have your students been receptive to part-time jobs or volunteering to get started in their industry? This wil also help with networking and may lead to other more appealing job opportunities. Sheri Leach
Pamela, Agreed. Have you thought of ways you can help "control" admissions or other steps that might help? Sheri Leach

Darcee, Programmatic job fairs and events are very successful. They provide students with an opportunity to not only develop confidence, but they can do it with employers and others in their field of study. This will enable them to learn tips for becoming successfully employed in their field and also give them a chance to network with professionals and alumni. Sheri Leach
Darcee, Another great way to continually have students thinking about employment related activities and skills while learning their technical skills. It is great that other departments are involved. Sheri Leach
Daniel, This is a great way to begin and maintain a good relationship with the student. Have you seen increased employment outcomes that are a result of this practice? Sheri Leach
Darcee, Setting expectations at the beginning is ideal. On your campus, how do all the different departments help the students live up to those expectations? Sheri Leach
Darcee, what a wonderful best practice! Thanks for sharing.
