About me

UK-trained Physician Associate/Assistant (PA) with a background in clinical medicine, pharmacy, governance, research, academia and military medicine.

I am currently enjoying working in the US as a Director and Associate Professor in PA academia. My long-term goal, however, is to provide strategic leadership (CEO or equivalent) for a hospital trust/health system.

Outside of work, I am a devoted husband and father. I volunteer my time at church and in various medical capacities. I also serve on several professional boards and believe in a commitment to lifelong learning.

Activity

I have gained some good insight in how to treat and interact with different types of student (i.e. innatentive, unprepared etc.)

Ice breakers can be useful. I also learnt how to better create a course syllabus.

A better understanding of the different types of test and how they compare and contrast.

I have learnt about the importance of general education assessment. This module also served as a nice refresher to me RE. Bloom's Taxonomy.

I  am now more aware of (i) how to ask questions in class and (ii) some of the fears that students experience in the classroom setting.

I better understand different learning styles and the startegies I can sue to be more inclusive going forward.

The importance of reinforcement and how to be a motivated instructor.

The importance of variety and how and why you should build rapport with students.

The importance of daily recognition and reinforcement.

Going forward, I will also make the effort to always learn the names of my students asap

I have gained an important insight into both age and cultural diversity.

The most important take home point I have is to always view the classroom from the point of the learner.
