About me

I've been a career educator for over 20 years. I currently serve as the Academic Coordinator for Brookstone College of Business and continue to be active in the classroom as a Business Instructor. My motto is "A student doesn't care how much you know, until they know how much you care." I was honored to receive the Career College Association National Teacher of the Year award in 2001. I just love teaching!

Activity

Hi Gina, You are right! Our students do not need more friends. They need someone they can look up to and guide them along the way to success. Patricia Scales
Hi Albert, Guest speakers can shed light on a lot of different things that are very useful to students. Guest speakers are very inspiring. Patricia Scales
Hi Shelly, Yes! Guest speakers are priceless! Students love hearing from someone other than the instructor all the time. Patricia Scales
Hi William, Love it! Awesome way to get discussion going. It generates a lot of energy because everyone wants to defend their position. Patricia Scales
Hi Rose, You are on point! Students know if you are ready, and the moment they conclude that you are unprepared/unorganized they will look at you in a different light and will damage your reputation. Patricia Scales
Hi Wendy, Great tactics to have in place to deter cheating. I use another simple method as well, I let my students know that they are being watched, and I watch them. During test time is not the time to get grading done. Watch your students. Patricia Scales
Hi Glen, I do the same thing, and when they do not meet the deadline they have no one to blame but themselves. Patricia Scales
Hi Harry, Yes, this is information to certainly get students excited! Students love having an increase in their standard of living. Success is their goal. Patricia Scales
Hi Brandan, Great way to ensure clarity. Sudents liike feeling accomplished. I like the idea of them seeing things being scratched off on the list. Patricia Scales
Hi Jeff, I like it! Students need to take full accountability for their own success. I love how you give them this responsibility. Patricia Scales
