About me

I've been a career educator for over 20 years. I currently serve as the Academic Coordinator for Brookstone College of Business and continue to be active in the classroom as a Business Instructor. My motto is "A student doesn't care how much you know, until they know how much you care." I was honored to receive the Career College Association National Teacher of the Year award in 2001. I just love teaching!

Hi Arthur, I do not feel as though there can be too many examples. Some students may need more examples than others. You can decide on how many examples to share, and if more are needed, deal with this on a case-by-case basis. Patricia Scales
hi Kendalle, Yes, guest speakers can shed light on a lot of different things for the students. They are a testimony that it can be done. Patricia Scales
Hi Rita, Guest speakers are the best! Guest speakers bring textbook theory to real life. Patricia Scales
Hi Dawn, I love it! This is learning at its best to prepare the students for the real world. Scenario learning is so effective; it gives students a taste as to how things are going to be in the real world. Patricia Scales
Hi Melissa, I can see how these topics interest students. I like how you get everyone involved. Patricia Scales
Hi Anne, Very fair, and I like how documentation is involved as well. Patricia Scales
Hi Shelly, Wow! She sounds as though she has some real issues. If anyone (admissions rep, admin asst., etc.) at the institution has a rapport with her, you may want to get that person who has a rapport with her and talk to her. This type of attitude will ruin her in the workplace. Patricia Scales
Hi Rebecca, Technology makes things easier and a lot more accessible. It sounds as though you take full advantage of the electronic way to communicate with your students. Patricia Scales
Hi Thomas, Students want to and need to know how the course is going to help them in their chosen field of study. When students feel they understand how useful the course is going to be, they buy into the course, thus understanding the relevancy of the course. Patricia Scales
Hi Deborah, Great tactics to ensure clarity is provided when it comes to course requirements. Your system allows for students to take full responsibility for what is expected of them. They can not play the card that they did not know. You go above and beyond to make sure your students know what needs to be done. Patricia Scales
