About me

I've been a career educator for over 20 years. I currently serve as the Academic Coordinator for Brookstone College of Business and continue to be active in the classroom as a Business Instructor. My motto is "A student doesn't care how much you know, until they know how much you care." I was honored to receive the Career College Association National Teacher of the Year award in 2001. I just love teaching!

Activity

Hi Stelian, Students are not big fans of surprises. They like knowing up front exactly what is expected of them. Patricia Scales
Hi Lennox, Visual promotes a better understanding of clarity. Patricia Scales
Hi Patrick, Students get course relevancy when they understand how it applies to the real world. Patricia Scales
Hi Allison, I love what you do to promote buy in from your students. Your assignments are very applicable to the real world. Patricia Scales
Hi Paul, students enjoy the mixture of lecture and hands-on activity based on the lecture! You grasp the concept when you can apply the theory! Patricia Scales
Hi Teresa, Students seem to be held more accountable and will perform at a higher standard when a contract is involved. To the student, it is serious because of the contract. Contract just seems like a serious document. Patricia Scales
Hi Johanna, Students have to learn how to take responsibility for their own action. Students are quickly to point the finger at someone else. I try to relate the situation to the workplace to get the student to understand his/her actions. Patricia Scales
Hi Shane, I do not believe in embarrassing a student in front of the class. It can get real ugly when this happens. A student will do whatever to save face when he/she is embarrassed in front of the class. Patricia Scales
Hi Tina, Visual adds great clarification! I concur; students are so much more less stress when they can see an example. Patricia Scales
Hi Emily, I agree! Successful papers are so much more motivating/encouraging!! The point is to get the students excited about the assignment! Patricia Scales
