I learned that as an instructor or staff member, my role is to ensure students with disabilities have equal access to educational opportunities while maintaining academic standards.

I learned that the accommodation process ensures students with disabilities receive reasonable support to access the curriculum, without altering academic standards.

I learned that disabilities can affect students in many ways, including learning, communication, mobility, and social interaction, but these impacts vary widely depending on the individual.

I learned that institutions must provide reasonable accommodations for students with disabilities under ADA and Section 504 while protecting FERPA-protected privacy.

Working through this module made me more aware of the practical challenges that come up when trying to follow FERPA consistently in real-world situations.

I’ve learned that institutions must carefully balance student privacy with the operational needs of school officials.

I learned that postsecondary institutions are required to have clear, fair, and prompt processes for handling complaints of sexual harassment, sexual violence, dating and domestic violence, and stalking.
