Great presentation - I didn't realize that there were two types of motivators - extrinsic and intrinsic.

Listening to your students - especially when it's a Q and A session. Rather than saying "no" to a response and moving on to another student with the correct answer, it's important for the instructor to respond in a more encouraging manner.

Great training so far.  It's important for instructors to realize that students learn differently, even in the online environment.

I didn't think about how online courses can really benefit student who may be introverted or shy and may not be comfortable participating in discussions during a face-to-face class.  An online, asynchronous class can really help students like this and they would feel more comfortable participating in a chat session via typing.

When the student posts their introduction and a little about themselves, it's important for the instructor to acknowledge and welcome them to the class.  Perhaps the instructor might feel comfortable sharing a few details about themselves as well.  This way, the student feels like a person and not a student number in the course.

Great information so far, especially for instructors new to the only teaching platform.  Organzation and time management will help you become a great online instructor.

Great informaton presented here.  One thing I would like to add is maybe instructors could utilize the "annnoucement" section in their online platform (i.e. blackboard or canvas).  They can post an annoucement about students disrupting or coming to class late/leaving early. This way the individual student is not singled out and they feel embarrassed.

I didn't know about the different types of instructors but I now know the type of instructor that I want to be. Thank you! Great information!

The section had some great tips!  Sometimes it can be overwhelming for an instructor to teach online because you can't properly gauge your students (i.e., do you have their attention, are they grasping the concepts?).  I agree with with not posting too many annoucements as well since this can be too much for students all at one time.

Teaching online is challenging as you don't get to meet your students or know them on a personal level.  Therefore, it's important to engage them and encourage active particpation and communication.
