 Learners  listen by understanding  and processing  what is being said . This can be done by passively listening which means listening without response or actively listening which requires empathy and summarization of what is being said. Never be a combative listener and that is a listener that is thinking of what to say while hearing the speaker communicate. 

 Students as customers requires teachers to listen,learn student's learninbg style, teat students fairly and  establish a good rapport with students.

Adult learners learn differently then children because they bring experience and are active participants in the learning process. To increase retention the teacher need to understand the learning needs of the student and m eets those needs.

                                              Intrinsic and Extrinsic Motivators

Intrinsic, extrinsic and having both motivators are important to know when learning  how to encourage students. I believe in students developing strong intrinsic motivators. I believe that the teacher's job is to discover that intrinsic motivator in each student. I believe that if the intrinsic motivator is discovered in a student that student can accomplish anything that student wants. Etrinsic motivators are a added bonus.                                                           Security and Autonomy 

  Security and Autonomy are needed in every class room. Students need to feel secure in there environment by knowing the class work is "doable" and challenging.Autonomy can be obtained after the student is secure in his/her environment. Knowing what to expect and knowing that the work is "doable "will lead to autonomy.   

 Staying engaged with the students, being nonjudgmental and having a open door policy conveyed in first week or last enrollment is key to help the students succeed. 

Faculty involvement in crucial to learning. i always ask students to introduce themselves in class and try to promote positive interaction. Everyone has preconceived ideas how teachers behave from past experiences. Thus,  it is always a good idea to set them straight before class begins.Promote a healthy and approachable environment .  

Went you buy something like a class you need to have some value from it that exceeds the price you pay for it. If I take a class where the teacher is knowledgeable and excited about the topic , I may see value in that class. I always try to express my enthusiasm for being a nurse because I want students to feel that enthusiasm. I want them to be nurses not so they will have a job or make money. I want them to truly love the profession as I do. If the students obtain that love for b… >>>

  Through adequate engagement with the students by questions , the teacher should be able to:

   1). Share new ideas/concepts

    2.) Help student comprehend those ideas

    3.) Help student make inferences from those ideas to other situations

    4.) Help student apply that knowledge in another situation

     5.) Help students analize the application 

      6.) Help student evaluate the entire process.
