Activity

Thank you for sharing those great links and your ides, Eric, So in terms of student success, how do you actually set up the use of the multimedia in the class and what do you follow up with?  Just wondering how you contextualize it within the session.

Gilbert, Now with mobile connectivity as well, even the computer is becoming less of an issue and students can connect anywhere and anytime. The restrictions of various websites require faculty to be planning well in advance and reviewing not only the access to sites but the currency of the content. Good points! -Ruth
Yes, Juanita, and given the ubiquitous distribution of the technology, as you mention, and the capabilities of the technology to wirelessly connect students anywhere at anytime, and the mobile technical reality of instant connection, the notion of the "nomadic" student is even more accurate.
Discussion Comment
True, Juanita. I like your comment about working at "your own pace". This technology helps customize the learning for the student and create an actual digital "space". Do you have examples from your own experience with this technology?
Why do you think that is, Juanita? What is it about the blended delivery that encourages students to be more resourceful? Have a read through the section on learner autonomy - I think the reality is that the blended delivery supports the development of learner autonomy even more than conventional face to face. Do you agree?
Discussion Comment
So, you would agree, Wanda, that Internet technology is front and center of creating dynamic learning environments for students, is that a good conclusion from your suggestions? I that sense, the technology increases student autonomy and also instructor facilitation. Good discussion...
Discussion Comment
Excellent, Vanessa. Yes, comparing the two groups will be helpful, making sure that you clearly define your expectations and their feedback. You getting more familiar with the technology is key, too, so practice as much as you can.
Discussion Comment
Yes, Vanessa. A lot of brainstorming can be captured using this technology. These boards also allow for capturing projects and team work that can then be distributed to the wider group for input, thus maximizing the effort.
Discussion Comment
Great idea, Vanessa. I think that's how most of us as instructors learn how these tools work and how they change the learning environment - just try them out with students and keep getting student feedback as you go. Telling students ahead of time that you're "testing" out some technology will get them on board as co-evaluators :)
Discussion Comment
Yes, Chris. So the actual learning and completion process must be assessed and not the end task only. There are various ways to accomplish, so we as instructors must analyze and assess those methods in truly evaluating student work.
