Yes, that is so true, Dawn, so it isn't just about the use of technology but we as instructors still need to teach and develop concepts and skills in legitimate and accountable use of information.

Great points here, Dawn. There are many online uses for WBs and discussions which, as you say, engage students at various levels with various points of interest in a course. The concept of an interactive WB is to capture dialogue and the flow of ideas as it occurs...either in a class or in real time online. Of course, then, those ideas can not only be captured but distributed to the entire group for further thinking.
Yes, Ron, and I think the challenge to current instructors is to maintain their own skills of life long learning to keep current with new instructional approaches and methods based on technological and societal changes.

Great points, Ron, and they support the overall concept of instructional design. That is, being aware of the strengths of the tools and how they can best support learning: sometimes Blogs, sometimes Wikis.
Yes, Cecil, and, of course, that instant access to information goes a long way in redefining the role of the instructor and increasing learner autonomy, when handled well.
I agree with your comments, Ron. The challenge for instructors is of course not only to be familiar with the idea of change but also to keep their minds alert as to the changes brought to teaching and learning as a result.
Great points, Dawn, and what I think is amazing is how the expectations are there now from students who look for the direct connections and flexible delivery options made possible by the Internet in every course.

Yes, Sloan, and perhaps one of the most surprising benefits I have found is the "immediacy" which the technology brings to the learning environment - direct connection, interactive choices, and self publishing...all of which add so many rich aspects to student learning.
Hi Cecil, Yes, in a dynamic learning environment there is much more selection for students and opportunities for instructors. With conventional delivery, there can be dynamic aspects if, as you say, technology such as screen capture or interactive white boards are used. However, these would be used in conjunction with "back end" technology that provides on going discussion and interaction through synchronous or asynchronous connections.
Great points, Ron. When designed and delivered well a blended course can provide students with various opportunities to engage and instructors with various opportunities to meet learners' needs.
