That's interesting, William. I agree that the boards can be a great backup but they can also take a lead in supporting interaction, collaboration, and including all students in the process.
Yes, William, instructors must be as aware as possible of new technology, however, I would suggest it is both students and instructors working tgether in a context of learning that will help keep moving things forward.

Yes, it can seem overwhelming at times, LE. I would suggest that the way forward is to concentrate on helping students develop the kinds of skills that will help them research, organize, manage, apply and reproduce the information for themselves. The "teaching them how to fish..." kind of approach.
Great points, LE. There have been and continue to be changes in both the flow of information and the reception and processing of that information from linear to multilayered. This, in turn, changes how ideas are processed and ultimately how new knowledge can be produced.
Discussion Comment
I agee, LE, and I would also say that the tool captures learning moments and provides opportunities to distribute those to other students.
Yes, LE, and I would say job readiness/marketability as well...and of course enriching the learning experience overall.
Yes, the self-directed and self paced skills that online learners develop have many implications for ongoing learning and skill development. Good points, Cecil.
Certainly that is important as well as taking initiative to research and apply information.
Discussion Comment
yes...similar to any classroom board, however, it can also be dynamic in that work can be capured, edited, enhanced, and distributed. Huge benfits for instruction.
Discussion Comment
I agree, Cecil, and the directness of the connection means that instructors can be more focused on the learning process than providing every aspect of the content. This increases learner autonomy, which is an important goal in higher education.
