There are many opinions and we are either on the cutting edge or a lot is outdated material.

For me I find it hard because our IT dept. is great but what do they support and what are other instructors on my campus using to make things easier. otherwise this just seems to be a world of info that is to far out there.  This course is serving nurses, culinary instructors and who know what other fields. This information should be more specific to each disipline and approved by the college that we are teaching at before we go down… >>>

Reasoning, questioning. discipline, Judgment are all things that help us help our students become better critical thinkers.

It is up to the instructor to guide reasoning, ask in depth questions and the practice thereof, show discipline through our work and by example and move towards objective judgment without using inferences or assumptions to lead us to making good decisions.

The sayiing "Common sense is not common" is becoming more interesting by the moment.

"Google it" and you will find the answer! All of this is not so easy and it is so important for students to try and find the Do's and Dont's, the who, what, where and why to different case studies or life experiences. we are rapidly moving away from creativity and the idea of employees being problem solvers and solution oriented. I truly hope to make my classes more challenging in this sense.

I found the statement of 300 people being in control of 80%what we… >>>

We have Internal motivation and External motivation. We must be careful how we use extrinsic motivation due to its reliance on a reward or prize. Intrinsic motivation comes from within which carries more incentive. So many aspects to how we can find ways to make course content interesting and inspire students to do better and also learn more.

I like the idea of starting slowly and implementing more and more as we go. This will be new to me but I have done some active learning activities in the past that have been very helpful and do not require hi cost of items.

an example for me of active learning was to cover the primal cuts of Beef, Veal, Pork and lamb. By dividing my students into groups I had each group draw the animal, name the primals, subrimals and give percentages of body weight. Then describe what the primals could be used for in cooking. Students have always… >>>

I am happy to see that this is part of this certification.

my lectures have lots of info but it is all in the delivery and how to get students to actively learn this material. So I am looking forward to what lies ahead in this module. I am appreciative of all of this information that will help me be a better instructor.

Scaffolding the daily class using guided nots during Powerpoints becomes active learning grafic organizers and Acronyms can assist with attaching visuals to key elements of course content which will assist students in reating material. All of this breaks down material in a way that also helps the student recode information on a personal level.

How can I show the students the relavancy of the course content, and how I can use review to make sure that they are understanding it.

the Importance of course content is so important and by pretesting we can have more insight of the expectations of each individual.

We are experiencing information overload at all times thru the world we live in. I see all the time how difficult it is to clear space in the students minds to grasp and hold on to new information.  This module was very helpful in finding new strategies. The episodic and semantic areas for me a great way to start new things. I reallly like the idea of attaching an experience to a learning process. I also think that in my field of work tying the senses to a learning experience is very helpful. Herbs textures, smells, visual and auditory learning… >>>

Delivery is Key whether this is information or a demonstration. I also like the idea of the TED talk structure and there expectations.

I like Michael Taylors responses to all of this, It shows that he is in pursuit of becoming an well rounded and excellent teacher.
