Consistency is key. With Modules and courses using the same layout will reduce student anxiety. I have found with students of all ages this is the key to learning. Students need structure, they also like to know what is planned or objectives for the day. This helps with everyone staying on topic, as much as possible, and helps to make sure all material is covered.

Communication is key on a daily basis with each student. This helps all learners stay on track and voice any concerns to the instructor. Part of our job is also counseling, and making sure we are available for students to ask questions. Sometimes we as instructor are the only people the learners will talk to.

The synchronous and asynchronous discussion are important to student learning. Having both of these discussions on a daily basis keep students engaged and learning. The socializing at the begining and end of the class are important to students. I have found teaching online during this pandemic, the students need to be social with their friends in the class. Before we Sign off everyday we do a video chat, this keeps the students motivated in learning and keeping in touch with each other is very important.

By having a good rapport with the students is key to being able to help the student. Day 1 of each class I give a bio of myself, and allow all students to do the same thing. We find similar interests and by the end of week 1 everyone helping each other. If a student asks a question you can not answer, or you need more information, make sure to answer that student within a timely manner. This means so much to the students and it keeps the rapport up.

To ensure successful e-learning the students and instructor need to know what is going on in the course. This includes the CMS, support when needed, and different approaches to learning. I have found that once everyone is comfortable with online learning everything goes much better. Discussion boards help the students better understand the topic by putting it into their own words. This also can help other students who are having trouble.
