I’ve learned that internal audits help identify gaps, improve processes, and ensure compliance. I intend to apply this by being proactive, maintaining accurate documentation, and using audit feedback to strengthen department operations.

I prepare by documenting roles and processes and maintaining open communication. To ensure smoother handoffs, I would strengthen onboarding, share key information early, and plan transitions proactively whenever possible.

I plan to use clear agendas, focused discussion topics, and time for meaningful input so meetings stay efficient, engaging, and productive for all members.

To apply these concepts I will develop bylaws that clearly define roles, responsibilities, and expectations while allowing flexibility for updates, member input, and growth as the program and industry evolve.

I plan to engage advisory board members by actively seeking their industry insight, involving them in program improvement discussions, and inviting their feedback to help keep the program relevant and impactful beyond basic compliance.

Having clear policies and training in place to ensure all communications are accurate, consistent, and compliant with regulations ensures compliance.

The most detrimental consequence of misrepresentation is the loss of trust. When students are misled, it can harm their educational goals, create financial and emotional stress, and damage the institution’s credibility. Once trust is broken, it is difficult to rebuild and can have long-lasting impacts on both students and the institution.

I have learned that regulatory oversight plays a key role in ensuring institutions meet established standards for quality, accountability, and student protection. Accrediting bodies and regulators work together to promote compliance, continuous improvement, and ethical practices, helping institutions stay aligned with their mission while meeting legal and educational expectations.

In my role, I can help create and sustain an ethical, compliance-based culture by staying informed on regulations, modeling ethical behavior, and consistently following policies and procedures. I can also encourage open communication, address concerns promptly, and support training efforts so compliance is understood as part of our daily work, not just a requirement.

A leadership legacy is about more than titles or accomplishments—it’s about the impact you leave on people. It’s reflected in how others felt supported, empowered, and respected because of your leadership. The choices you make, the values you model, and the way you treat others shape a legacy that lasts well beyond your time in the role.
