If the instructor wants to be effective in transferring the knowledge, they must feel the knowledge they share and feel the ones they share it with. That seems to be the catalyst for a successful learning environment. In the classroom one of the ingredients are missing, the feeling for the subject matter or the feelings for the students. How can one achieve both if the work environment does not really cultivate those qualities? Monique
Do some use the rubric as a guideline, but allow the learning process to move to other levels to encourage collaboration and community among students to increase quality postings? I like to do this for it helps the students guide their learning and lead collaboration efforts that are more rewarding for the students and the participants. I do also make sure it does not get out of hand and stay on track to meet objectives and outcomes. Monique

Since Generation X are loners and work well alone, they manage themselves and the online environment for learning. Having them in roles of leadership in the classroom may be a good way to get them more engaged and add more value to the learning experience. Is this being intrusive in the student learning process? Monique
How can you stop students from using the text language in the chat box of a synchronous class session? I know there are standards that you can set for S2S interaction, but how do you break them of a habit that is so common place? Monique
Since our new wave of technology, education has become very informal in methods of communication and learning. Sometimes I find the technology refreshing and other times I find that it interferes with learning and relating in the classroom. Online is a more common place dynamic that is reshaping the way we deliver education and receive education. The mindset of the professor behind the podium has become some what obsolete. I miss those days from time to time, but still do enjoy the convenience that technology delivers to education. Can you really have it both ways completely?
Should the student have a certain amount of reading and writing skills before the online class begins? Should the instructor from any background teach a student reading and writing skills, on top of course material? Please share your thoughts with me on this?
In our current educational environment, I have come to notice more policies that push the students through school as opposed to motivating them. How can you motivate the student, without feeling like you are pushing them through? If the students are not enganged with many different efforts and avenues utilized, what is the next step? Thank you for your thoughts and responses.
How do you respond to criticism that is personal and emotionally charged in a professional environment? When and how do you draw the line?
In the online environment, clerical duties have increased and can be very time consuming depending on class loads. Taking a specific time each day to address these can minimize the demand and stress. Also making students aware of this schedule can also minimize stress on the students as well in regards to waiting for a response. Great information here to learn from.

One of the biggest mistakes I see in most instructors’ time management is lack of time for self. Our ability to deliver quality can be as good or as bad as the quality we deliver to ourselves. Being a great instructor starts with being great to self and being able to set the example for students to imitate and learn from. I need to make more time for myself so I am not overwhelmed when others have demands of me. When I do not enforce that personal time I become overwhelmed and most times ineffective at tasks.
