Problem based learning, game based learning, Instructor based learning are different options of learning techniques. These are alternative ways to teach by identifying the desired results and the goal how to get the students to achieve the goal.

 

Unfortunately we are severily affected by technology restrictions at our facility. Inmate network must be very tight in order to limit any possible security breaches. I cannot even show youtube videos due to the restrictions, so although there are some very good ideas in these lessons, I struggle to find work around solutions.

 

Student centered methods is a great concept. It forces them to participate in lessons and allows their peers to assist them when needed. Students can collaborate to reach the destination. Students are sometimes reluctant to ask the Instructor if they are not following or missed something. they seem to be more comfortable asking their peers so focusing on getting the information to those listening can be beneficial to assist.

 

I believe that the orthodox way to teaching certainly benefitted by the instructors ability to control the time and pace where as Flipping the classroom will have some obvious hurdles to keep the lesson and students on track. However, anything that can improve a students ability to grasp more information and operate at a higher success rate is absoluetly worth while.

 

I am a Vocational Instructor for adult men. I have clerks or office assistants that I can utilize to facilitate lessons. I like the idea of allowing the students to present the lessons to their peers under my supervision. I believe this will certainly prompt more participation for sure.

 

I think independent study can be benefical if students are able to understand and retain the material.

 

It is important for instructors to stay on task.

 

 

It is important to be prepared in the classroom.

 

It is important to remember there is an order to follow when teaching.

 

Stimulation and debriefing are two important parts of learning.
