“EI” is a self awareness of ones emotions, be it the student or the instructor. It is in fact, thinking about thinking before speaking or acting. What comes into play here is certain social skills that helps you interact correctly with each other. It can be as simple as smiling at someone, & they will smile back. This sets the stage for a positive learning environment.

Wow, what a very informative section. I learned a bunch, & reinforced quite a bit of what I knew & want to continue to apply moving forward.

Key points that I took away from this section are:

  • 10% of students have some form of a learning disability. Be it Dyslexia, Dyscalculia, Dysgraphia, Dysnomia, & Dyspraxia.
  • A learning disability in short is something that interferes with cognitive processing of new information.
  • Adult learners need to self advocate.
  • IEP’s are not required by federal law after graduating high school, or after the age of 21.
  • Good ways to accommodate students with learning

Instructing Diverse Learners:

This section was very interesting on how it was broke down. I have experienced different types of learners, but only a very small number of learners that are using English as their learning language aside from their native language. Take a-ways from this class for me are:

Students bring 3 things that influence their potential for success.

  1. Ability: The types are Genetics, & Developed.
  2. Previous experience: Can be positive & negative, built from & used as a self assessment.
  3. Motivation: To reach self-set goals, & is a powerful source. Give examples of the “end Game”

Reasons for student monitoring are to help them stay on task, help keep the instructor aware of emerging issues, & helps develop rapport. Some of the positive outcomes from student monitoring that I related to & will consider are….

  • Creates a positive learning setting.
  • Identifies & resolves issues fast.
  • Reinforces positive student behavior.
  • Keeps the students engaged & on task.
  • Offers more individual instruction.
  • Helps plan activities & learning units appropriateness.
  •

Things I will try to keep in mind to help me become a better & effective monitor….

  • Try to move around the classroom deliberately.
  • Keep the classroom organized

This was a good module for review for me, & a fresh look at how to measure the mastery of cotent. All different types of question were always used , & I entend to update them over time based on the following of each type of question.

  • True / False:

Use more precise language, to avoid may, might, can, only, never, & the like. Always write in the positive., & be sure true & false questions are about 50% of the test / quiz, worksheet.

  • Multiple choice:

Make sure they are sentance based, with the stem & the… >>>

I found this module very intresting in how to ask effective questions..... The basics of questioning thru Blooms aproach was riviting & really hit home. It makes more sence now.  Considering the 3 learning domains & the 6 leveles of learning will help me in effectivly structure my questions in the future. Keeping the Why, What & How in mind is essential in asking effective quetions.

The outline that I will keep in mind when asking more effective questions will be....

  • Planned questions.
  • Direct to individual students.
  • Folow question by silence for time to formulate a response.
  • Repete the

Very intresting read. Understanding the "Net" generation, born, 1982 & beyond, the Generation X, born 1965 to 1982, & the baby boomer generation, born 1946 to 1964, is a very good start to undetstanding learning methods of todays students. Although not all stundents fall specifically under these " generations", it is a good guide when aproaching teaching methods for specific students. Also social & economic back grounds are important to consider. As "baby boomers" are more read & remember learners, the "net gen" are more research & look up learners.

The "Flipped Classroom" is a model that I have already… >>>

This module, was very helpful.  Each section was quite informative, & I have outlined below my plan on how I intend to use it.

The power of positivity, energy, & enthusiasm is so important to help stsrt a class strong.

I will be starting each class with the "Tell - Teach - Repete lesson stratigy.

  • Start with experiences that will allow the student to relate what they know to what they are about to learn.
  • Then will cover the lesson objectives.
  • Then how the objectives will be acomplished.
  • Then how it relates to their careers.

Some important things that I… >>>

This module on delivering course content was very intresting, & I learned a lot.  Many things I am already doing, & some I will incorporate into my lectures & demonstrations.

Creating lesson plans:

  • Determine the lesson content.
  • State instructional goals
  • Validate the importance.
  • List preformance objectives.
  • Used to evaluate & make improvements.

Make the course relevent:

  • Keep lectures of specific content to 15 min, max.
  • Reinforce with more lab demos.
  • I am already going to implement a new text book.
  • Looking at more industry expert videos.

Keeping in mind the learning styles & ways, & delivering content… >>>

In regard to meeting the class for the first time, this module ws much more than I expected. I have had many new classes in the 7 years I have been teaching, however a few new things that I learned & will be implementing, that I am not already, will be:

The very first thing:

  • Making sure my first impression is the best it can be.
  • Greet each student by name the first day.
  • Look at Cohort groups to identify social dinamics of the group.

Have a to do list:

  • I use these, but will take it to a
