Mike as a senior instructor what wisdom or good practices can you pass along?
As I take a close look at the role of an instructor it is clear to see that there are many tasks that must happen during, before and after class. Yet some seem to accomplish them with less effort than others. What good instructional or clerical practices can we share or learn from others that can reduce stress and help manage time more effectively?
Paul, what time suckers keep you from greatness is just the title. You need to respond to the question posted. “What obstacles keep instructors from reaching their maximum efficiency during the day, and how can the education leadership support the team with those challenges?”
Russell, I want to remind you that helping student and getting them caught up should not be considered a time sucker. There are things we should anticipate and prepare for. What potential solution can you recommend or how can the EM team help?
I would have to agree with the last couple of postings regarding more awareness and involvement. The leadership team itself is also heavily tasked. I believe that improved to way communication among the teams and shifting to a working/assignment meeting as opposed to the more frequent informational meeting could be a powerful solution.
Lawrence, I will agree that motivation is a significant factor in reaching a higher sense of effectiveness, but attempting to achieve an improved experience for our student should never fell like a time sucker instead it should be the essence of what a UTI instructor should represent. What do you believe affects your motivation?
Bill, what are the areas that we can start affecting and what should we be working on?
Jim, holidays and extra students are not considered time suckers and those are also not areas we can affect. I am also looking for solutions.
I’m actually less concern with the term greatness, and more interested in how we as unified team identify the challenges can come up with solutions.
