Students chose to come to school for different reasons and show up to class with varying expectation of the institution and their instructors along with a few uncertainties about being a student. But no one shows up planning to fail class or drop from the program. While there are instances where you as an instructor may not have much control or influence over student leaving such as; personal, medical or financial reasons, please describe what you do have influence over and how you can positively affect student retention as an instructor.
One of the problems I find is that when you are dealing with nonverbal communication, is that it’s to easy to misinterpret the information. You begin to read between the lines and next thing you know you’re telling yourself a story with new meanings and tones.
Please describe how you keep your self motivated and what type of motivating techniques have proven to be successful in retaining and engaging students?
