I am enjoying the ED 117 course. I found the information interesting for not only for the purposes of classroom strategy and activity development but also for my own personal reflection. Recently, I attended a local Human Resources Management Society meeting. The speaker's topic was the Generation Y group. He challenged the audience to consider not labeling any individual as part of a generational group. Rather, one should focus upon discovering what motivates the individual to success through human interaction/conversation....a simple idea in this technology-driven world. This same simple philosophy was also stressed in the ED 117.

I agree with the importance of learning student names. Also, I like to know the student's field of study to engage in conversation and better apply the relevancy of information/activities to the workplace.

I also liked the reminder about the 15 minute segments. Activities and interaction keep them focused and awake! Guest speakers or field trips can also be beneficial. Lisa

Great comment! What have you found to be the most beneficial tips during your last six months of teaching? Lisa

Great comment. Our Advisory Board Members continue to emphasize how professionalism/soft skills is/are so extremely important for the students. In some cases, even more so than the technical skills. Lisa

Welcome to the ECPI family. If you haven't already completed the ED 101 course, the material could be very beneficial to you. I am still enjoying each first class of a term and learning from the students on a daily basis. Keeping the students engaged is so very important! Have you tried Kahoots? Great interactive game I learned about at an ECPI annual meeting. create.kahoot.it

Good luck! Lisa

Periodically when teaching the FOR class, I will follow up for a few terms with an email to the student asking how the term went or provide an encouraging word when I see the student on campus. In addition, the smile in the hallway always provides an uplifting moment for the student and me! I enjoyed the RT104 course! Teamwork is critical to the success of our students.
