How will this advisor system be monitored? One of the potential shortcomings of this type of system is the inconsistent delivery of services. Some faculty members may be more responsive than others, leaving some students under served. Careful oversight is very important to making it work. Good luck.

Having a shared basis on information is a good starting point for developing an action plan. Hopefully, RT101 will give you and your colleagues some ideas to discuss and implement. Are there are particular actions you would like to champion?

Are you talking about "past history" for the individual or identifying a student as member of a cohort that historically has problems? Ex: someone who gets a full Pell may need help with transportation.

Kudos for a well developed plan. Of course, the challenge is getting the student to participate. I suspect you have some students who are in such a rush to get out that they skip several steps. Do you have a situation where the Program Director doesn't really want to save the student? "Thank God the car broke down so we don't have to deal with them anymore." What happens then?

How did it go? Were you able to offer a wide of variety of styles and sizes? Did the students pay for the items? Did you limit the number of purchases?
How well attended are the open forum sessions? How do students use them? Do they turn into gripe sessions for the disgruntled few?

True. What's the next step to get them to open up?

What variables would you propose to screen? Would the results be grounds for not accepting an applicant?

How do you see this being used by your students, Reyba?

Why is it sometimes challenging for faculty to help identify potentially at-risk students?
