I had not considered the various practical, personal, and professional barriers to active learning. I now have some strategies to implement to mitigate these barriers.

Active learning promotes both analytical and critical thinking.

It is important to incorporate visual and kinesthetic activities into our medical terminology courses to improve student engagement and content retention.

I intend to use the mystery weekly term to reinforce key concepts throughout the course.

I will use the secret identity game as an ice breaker.

Students that associate positive emotions with the learning experience will retain more of the information. Moreover, students will be more successful in the course if the material is presented using visual, auditory, and kinesthetic modalities to reinforce the learning process.
