Activity

It is important to find out what communication methods work best for students and to change it if it is not working well.

Online asynchronous teaching can be engaging and interesting for students with the right plan and tools integrated for learning.

Reach out to students when you see they are not engaged. Adapt and adjust teaching style to each student individually. Remember that what may have engaged one student or a group of students that doesn't mean it will work for another student or group of students.

The course content must be engaging. If the initial information seems boring, students may not be involved but if student understands the first information may be less exciting but it is necessary information and the Active part will be next, where they can practice and apply what they just learned and use critical thinking skills, that may help.

This course emphasizes the importance of preparation. Active learning is possible in asynchronous time as well as synchronously. Effort leads to results, good reminder.

I learned the importance of good and timely communication when teaching on-line. Also to keep the communication positive.

I learned a connection with students and instructors must be made online as would be created face to face. Talking with peer instructors about how to engage students in online learning and sharing best practices will be beneficial.

I learned the importance of making a connection with each student so when you try to contact them to review and discuss their assignments they will find value in talking with you and returning your outreach if you leave a message or send a text message.

I learned how important it is for students to feel they are part of an educational institution that truly cares about them. It takes everyone to support students. Good and timely responses to student outreach is a must.

I learned that peer review and multiple evaluations are important for students' learning.
