Medical Faculty with ECPI Roanoke, Va. ...Adjunct Instructor for Medical Assisting courses. I have 40 plus years of experience in the medical profession primarily Emergency Room setting, Pediatrics, and Clinical Laboratory. I hold a degree in Laboratory Science, I am also an EMT and life member of Salem Rescue Squad. I hold certifications in Phlebotomy, Medical Assiting, EKG, First-Aide Instructor, and OSHA/HIPAA compliance officer, also holding many certifications in Quality Assurance. The Virtual/On Line courses have been challenging to say the least, but can also be beneficial to the student and the Instructor.

Since Covid, Instructors were sent home to teach Virtual classes. Starting out, the in seat Instructors did not like the Virtual teaching method, but as we improved and became accustomed to a new way of teaching we started to enjoy the perks of teaching from home. If it is a clinical class that required hands on instruction, of course you want to be in the class room setting with your students, but if its a class that can be taught Virtual, with no hands on skills to perform, why wouldn't you be allowed to go Virtual? I plan to focus more on greeting the student at the door and show a more caring atmosphere as an Instructor
