Wow! A lot of good information in here! Lifelong learning is certainly capitalized in here. Maybe add more pneumonics to help recall. 

 

Online instruction is an effective way for many courses/subjects. Switching to this mode during the pandemic really put it to the test where it has been uncertain how effective it can be. I feel understanding the LMS is very critical. 

 

As administrators of educational programs, we also need the support of parent organizations to ensure the flexibility to maintain the ongoing requirements of developing faculty and ensuring they understand their role as a faculty member, within the program and within accreditation. 

 

Having education (AND subsequent support for ongoing faculty development) in addition to the vocational experience greatly reduces the negative impact on student learning outcomes. 

 

Terminology/Words used when having conversations with employees/subordinates regarding performance that is not shaming or blaming is something I took away from this. I feel this is important to give everyone opportunity to do better. 

 

Showing appreciation, being relatable, keeping focused, mentoring, clear communication, and informing students regular and being responsive are all key indicators of assisting students to stay on task. 

 

Connecting with students and understanding what is important to them, reviewing possibilities, reflecting on what goals and listening to your students is so valuable. Greeting students at beginning of class, even when remote (ZOOM) is important.

 

Being authentic and interested in your student's potential is important. Recognizing cues from your student's when things are not right, not usual for student behavior. Being human and acknowledging this is also important.

 

Retention is not the work of one; it takes a village of culutre of true belief in what goals of the instituition are. Doing what is right at the right time and place.

 

Varying your teaching style and breaking your teaching up into 10-15 minute sessions, and push your students to try and stretch themselves in addition to learn about the content you are teaching.
