I have learned that it is essential for an instructor to maintain a professional yet supportive relationship with students. While it is important to be approachable and foster trust, the instructor must remain a friend rather than a buddy, ensuring appropriate boundaries are upheld. In the classroom, the instructor assumes multiple roles—including mentor and role model—guiding students not only in academic achievement but also in personal and professional development. By modeling integrity, respect, and dedication, the instructor creates an environment that inspires learners to grow both intellectually and ethically.

I learned that learning preferences and challenges both play a role in how a student learns.  Getting to know your students and tailoring the learning environment to address both will lead to a successful outcome.

An individual's "mother tongue" is a reflection of their cultural heritage. It is imperative that when teaching, you take into consideration if the individual is mono, bi, or multilingual.

Many factors shape the learning experience, including race and culture. As an educator, it's essential to honor each student's racial identity and cultural background, creating a respectful and inclusive environment where all learners feel seen and supported.

Individualizing instruction by incorporating a variety of teaching methods is essential for student success.
