Learned the different types of assessments that can be used, typically use Objective and Subjective assessments.

There is a definite process to evaluating a students knowledge on a subject by using the processes of assessment. Basically checking on their comprehension before, in the middle and then towards the end of a course to allow for time to revisit material that may have been missed or misunderstood.

To always reassess the technology used to determine knowledge based information, not all students learn the same and all technology does not work for everyone.

Thought the part about building a community makes sense. Using communication to connect the students and ultimately encourage collaboration within the classroom could be really helpful.

Be aware of the generations within your classroom and their communication styles. Again, make sure communication policies are upfront and concise. Help to encourage participation by participating when needed, but also allow for students to self learn and help their peers as well.

I learned it is imperative to establish communication guidelines for different means of communication available within the course. As well as establishing consequences for those not being followed. Rubrics are a excellent way of establishing the guidelines for things such as discussions, I have always used them in my courses. It lets students know what is expected and how they will be graded.

With all of the different technology based communications tools out there. As the instructor you need to determine first what information your needing to communicate to the students then determine the best delivery method.

When considering an online class be organized, know your audience. Make the environment informative but also use websites, and other learning materials to help facilitate your course, and continuously evaluate the course to make adjustments as technology and information is added or changed.

With the many roles of the instructor it is important that you convey to students all expectations and consequences for not meeting those expectations. To provide timely feedback to encourage learning and keeping them involved in their own learning.

I learned that no matter what method you are using to deliver information to students, communication and organization is imperative for them to understand what is expected and how to complete the steps as they are assigned.
