Activity

Instructing learners with disabilities should not be seen as a burden, they are usually above average inteligent students.

What they might need is some special attention like:

More time

Talk to them about what is useful for their learning

Maybe they need a more quieter place to take the exams

In this module I have learned how to approach the deficiencies that the students might have.

ELL are a special issue, because we are dealing with students that do not have english as first language, and these deficiencies must be overcome with additional tecniques and methods.

there is a certain limitation of how many words a students can incorporate in their vocabulary and then be able to use them properly.

I have learned the importance of group learning.

Stting groups of around 6 to 8 members is ideal for the best development of this learning tool.

This will allow students to interact with each other and learn to possible strengths that each one of them will bring to the group.

Also about monitoring the class and its importance.

In order to maintain students attention you must do certain things like:

Makinng eye contact

Move around the classroom

Allow time betwween questions and answers in order for students to tune in

It would be helpful to videotape your presentations so that you can see where you need improvement

As a professor I should make the class enjoyable and make sure the learning process is percolating to the students.

Reduce your class to several 15 minutes mini lectures and in between them have activities that will bring the students to the attention of the subject matter and what they have learned in the class.

use media support for your lectures, it makes classes more atractive.

The importance of making the initiation of the course pleasent and clear.

Making sure you let the students speak and let their mind out so you and everybody know where everybody stands

The main thing I learned was that planning your class and making a good sylabus is of upmost importance.

Also, that students are ussualy nervous when they start a new course, therfore, you must put yourself in their shoes in order to make things a little easier for them.

In this part it is important to understand the type of student and the type of class that work the best.

The adult student can be benefit very much when you relate what he is learning to his own life expirience.

It is also important to understand that most of the students prefer and organized lecture done by the professor.

From this module I have learn that advisory can not be treated lightly.

Not only the single answer to a single question is the proper thing to do, sometimes it is required to consider several other situations in the life of the student in order to give them the proper and necessary orientation.

Certainly I agree in the importance of been a good listener.

It is important that you create good listening habits that focus your atention on the speaker.
