Vimlarani, How would you keep the balance in your evaluating subjective questions? Would this be where you would incorporate rubrics? Dr. Kelly Wilkinson
Josh, Great post! These tools all have a role in the learning process. In our culture of testing, it is easy just to depend on the end of course, high stakes testing. Although important they may not tell the whole story or provide educators with the information to change the course of learning. Diagnostics and summative assessment provide a holistic type of assessment that is "closing the loop" of learning. Dr. Kelly Wilkinson
Vimlarani, You have a very good post. I agree with you about the different types of assessment all have a purpose and must be matched with the objective(s) you want to measure. There is such a value for instructors looking at the assessment data. It is a way to review and reflect on teaching to improve learning outcomes for students. Dr. Kelly Wilkinson
Josh, Great post. The user friendliness is so important for both the student and the instructor. I saw one technology tools that was great for the instructor to design the assessment, great for the students to take, but the data needed by the instructor was impossible to get. That is a problem with software! Dr. Kelly Wilkinson
Vimlarani, What a great post! You are right you must match the assessment wit the outcomes. The results must be able to measure the outcome. A variety of assessments will give students opportunity to show what they know and/or can do in different ways. Dr. Kelly Wilkinson
Catherine Affiong , What do you need to think about the student? What do you think would make a tool important to use for a student? Dr. Kelly Wilkinson
Charles, I agree with you to a point. I think the tools should be accommodating to multiple learning styles and teaching style. You also want to be able to obtain data to make decisions from the tools. also. Dr. Kelly Wilkinson
Ra'kia, I agree with you. If you can use the tools within the LMS it is better for the student, the institution, and the instructor. You can't always do that. Dr. Kelly Wilkinson

Andrea, You sound like someone who participates in blogging! It does provide a canvas for students to share and meet others. It is important that students put their "best foot forward". You never know who is watching. . . Dr. Kelly Wilkinson
Andrea, These are great guidelines. I hadn't thought about getting permission about speaking to someone in a blog but that is important. Dr. Kelly Wilkinson
