Tina, Great post. LinkedIn is becoming such a powerful tool to connect. We make all our students go through a "hygiene" course. You were also very nice to say "belly buttons". I have heard other body parts. . . . :) Dr. Kelly Wilkinson
Dr. Glenn , I agree with you totally. They need to know the professional side of social media and it is important they know the importance of this medium. It becomes more powerful for professional networking as time passes. Dr. Kelly Wilkinson

Tina, That is why it is so important to have "standards" for social media. We now have our freshmen go through a social media workshop to "professionalize" their own. Our alumni are finding them and they are finding alumni through it. Dr. Kelly Wilkinson
Tina, Great post! Did you know research shows the best way to be a good online instructor is to be an online student! That shouldn't be surprising as how many times have we said we do something or don't do something in our f2f courses because of an experience we had in our on education. It is important that we learn from both bad and good experiences. Dr. Kelly Wilkinson
Heather, That sounds like a great idea! How do you grade it? Dr. Kelly Wilkinson
Heather, So you you design your tests or are they designed for you? You seemed to have the course well designed and ready for student learning. Dr. Kelly Wilkinson

Michael, How do you assess their use of Blogs? Do you give them a grade or do you use them as research? Dr. Kelly Wilkinson
Michael, It is a delicate balance as content or learning objectives may not be changed easily. Those changes can be dependent on institutional procedures. We may be contained by the master course objectives. Dr. Kelly Wilkinson
Michael, That is great. You can really demonstrate technique and skill through the medium. Dr. Kelly Wilkinson
Michael, I agree with you. We now have our freshmen go through a workshop on professional social media usage. We also know that LinkedIn is where they need to be regarding networking. It is our responsibility to train them. . . or at least try! Dr. Kelly Wilkinson
