Petrice, Great post. You make such good points. Compatibility is so important. With the advent of tablets and smartphones, students are using a variety of devices for learning. We as instructors are going to have to leverage those devices for apps and software that provide students with unique learning experiences. I see much work for the instructors in the future! Dr. Kelly Wilkinson
Russell, The one thing I know that is so important in this situation is to get IT, students and you involved early. You want to make sure that you and the student provide detail about the problem and if needed get the vendor involved before credibility is lost and frustration is built. Dr. Kelly Wilkinson
corinne, You make a great point. You can create ti for the group. I love your ideas regarding blog usage particularly with service learning and internships. Nice work. Dr. Kelly Wilkinson
Janis, I agree with you, you just provide guidelines for both the post and the reply. You must model it also. Dr. Kelly Wilkinson
corinne, Great post. You make so many great points. You have to determine what you think is average blogging versus good or excellent. You may want to evaluate the comments regarding did the students make their point. Just a thought. . . . Dr. Kelly Wilkinson
Samantha, You are right. It depends on what you want the students to learn or what the students to show what they learned through this medium. That is important. Dr. Kelly Wilkinson
LE, What a smart way to go. Students would then know what you expect when they use this medium. Dr. Kelly Wilkinson
corinne, It can be as simple as have students create a video blog with their phone and upload it. Have the students determine how they will provide microblog with your expectations embedded. Dr. Kelly Wilkinson
Samantha, It is also a way to get it to their phone. Their phone is attached to them. . . always. Dr. Kelly Wilkinson
Samantha, Try it. Students appreciate faculty that are willing to try it. I have used a twitter feed to enhance my f2f courses as students can ask questions during a lecture and if another student answer they get extra points. You may be able to do something like that in your online course. Dr. Kelly Wilkinson
