Tanya, You are right. We now make all of our freshmen in the College of Business to take a seminar called Professionalizing your Social Media. We want them using it responsibly. We also want them to understand the power of the tool in the business world. Professionals use it and monitor it all the time. Dr. Kelly Wilkinson
Constantinos, You and I are "on the same page" in thinking. I follow Chickering and Gamson's principles of good undergraduate teaching and they were created in 1987 before online learning was modernized. Good teaching will transcend any delivery method! Dr. Kelly Wilkinson
Tanya, We can't do it all. It takes a village to teach . . . online or f2f. You are right, you don't want to overwhelm them. Dr. Kelly Wilkinson
LE, You make a great point. We as educators need to realize we can have down time. We also need to realize we can separate personal social media from professional social media. I want down time too! Dr. Kelly Wilkinson
compreca, What a great list. Redirect is such a great principle. We don't want them continuing in their failure, we want them to learn from it and move on. Dr. Kelly Wilkinson
compreca, You are so right. Students don't explore the LMS as many don't want to and others are scared to. I have used tutorials to help showcase important sites and provide directions on how to use them. Dr. Kelly Wilkinson
compreca, Great ideas. You have to provided that important feedback. Have you tried to record your feedback as you look at the paper? Students really like it and it is simple to do. Dr. Kelly Wilkinson
Michael, How do you evaluate the subjectivity with a paper? Do you use a rubric? Kelly Wilkinson
Russell, Sharing info about yourself is such an effective way to build that rapport. Share your experiences that tie into the content. I also have students to post their course questions to a general area. Students who answer the question get participation points. This will build classroom rapport. Dr. Kelly Wilkinson
Russell, I do think that you need to explain content, explanations and guidelines in multiple ways and continually point students to these course elements. I use recordings, links, and text within the LMS. Dr. Kelly Wilkinson
