At my school as part of the admission process we have integrated a per-intake interview for the incoming student. The students get one-on-one attention, they get to meet and talk with the instructors and support staff, it also give the student the opportunity to asked any pending questions, or seek clarification prior to the start of the program. Each interview last 15-20 minutes, mentorships are formed and our faculty get to formalate plans for academic success based on predetermined questions asked of the student, with the process we have seen an increase in enrollments, retention and overall student satisfaction. I find it very annoying when I am interviewing a candidate and their cell phone rings. To me it does not matter if this candidate has all the right credentials and interviews well, they are almost always immediately eliminated from the running especially if they answer the call. This I associate with professionalism, or lack of. Candidates leave your cell phone in the car.
Sure, the particular service I am researching provides 24/7 service that would be free to the students and staff to use, as long as they are associated with the company. It offers help with professional assistance and resources such as counseling (which would includes face to face counseling and coaching sessions), help with housing issues, childcare, financial resource assistance, legal assistance, assistance, transportation and health care assistance. I believe this paid service would be a benefit to our student body and staff. I am looking for someone that could give me feeding back on their experiences with this type of service.
Is using a paid student resources service worth the price?
