The importance of writing accurate job descriptions for employment verification.

It is best to have a workflow of the documentation process so all the parties involved have an idea of expectations and path to self-check compliance on. A good workflow eliminates errors and helps with audits.

The best practice for employment verification programs is to have well defined defintions of what "placement" means. There should be no grey areas on whether a student leaving a program is being placed in a program that is considered acceptable and aligned with the program of study. Percentage numbers can mean very different things if the standards aren't agreed upon beforehand.

My biggest takeaway from the beginning of this module is the importance of accurate and timely employment reporting, and how that relates to a plethora of different indicators for our society.

I'm new to CS. If 81% of hiring managers and HR decision-makers surveyed identified past work experience as the number one attribute considered in the hiring process, then how do we get employers to give recent graduates a chance during COVID-19?

Career Services hold many roles. It takes a village to sevice career college students.

I think our students should utilize the post-interview correspondence for all the people who are even tangentially related to their job search. This will help them build a better network of professionals.

I agree Ruth, the Cover Letter is often overlooked and this module gives some great tips on making sure it comes in with a bang. Getting students to write NEW cover letters specific to the job they are applying is very important.

I liked the quadrant test or thumbs test to determine the important information on a resume. Taking out some design elements, like bulleted columns, is a great way to have resume scanning software pick up more parts of resume.

In todays digital world it is super important that students maintain a digital prescence that puts them in a good light. That simple photo at 2 am from the local bar might bring down someone's impression of the job applicant just enough for them to bypass the student for an interview.
