Brand management is something our students don't think about on a regular basis. It is super important that students are able to utilize the social media and online platforms to PUSH their brand and not harm it. I liked the Jay-Z quote "I'm not a businessman...I'm a business man" sums up perfectly how our students should be pursuing job opportunities.

I agree Ruth, the use of "Key-Words" is something that would be extremely helpful to students to incorporate in their online portfolio. I like the tip on going for "low/moderate" SEO words instead of the larger searches that everyone will be competing in. Students can focus their resume on the specific jobs they are applying for by using words that are only specific for that job, increasing their chances of being found online.

Companies are moving more away from traditional resumes, and are moving more towards programs that do assessment testing. This can show what an applicant can do versus what they have done. Making sure your social media is cleaned up is more important than ever.

I'm reminded to build trust. Make contact and form rapport as early as possible.

I learned to remember your job isn't to just place students, but to fulfill their need as well as the employers.

When moving to online format an instructor cannot simply create presentations and hope students will review them. Instructors will need to consider the most effective way in achieving student engagement and outcomes.

I learned there is no right or wrong way to reah online, but its important to hage effective learning. Instructors need to modify their teaching styles. Online instructors wear many 'hats' but the best instructors need to have great communicate skills.

I learned that regardless of whether the class is synchronous or asynchronous, the content needs to be organized, constant, and accessible.

I learned that tools may have a multitude of functions, but it's essential to match the right tool with the function that is appropriate for student learning.

I learned that actively listening is the best way to engage with employers. Take notes and try to reframe/redirect any objections you may receive. Your goal is to build a relationship, so invest your time.
