Activity

Ensure the syllabus has all the needed content. Review with the students on the first day of class to set clear expectations for the course, helping the students understand the structure, policies and grading criteria from the beginning. The syllabus establishes a foundation for communication, accountability, and a successful learning environment.

It is very important to be prepared and to know your students.

It is important to keep students engaged in the leaning process.

It is important to get to know your students so that you can provide appropriate encouragement/support to them along their educational journey.

This is a great reminder of planning for the first day! Providing the students with the information needed for them to be successful. And the opportunity to introduce yourself and your passion for the profession. And getting to know your students and their “why”.

My take away from this session - is how important the syllabus is to the student and instructor.

I enjoyed this session very much. The information is the basics for a successful career. I look forward to using this knowledge and working on my professional development plan.

Understanding the students learning preference (the way the student best takes in and process information) and learning challenges (difficulties or barriers that made learning harder) allows the teacher to support them more effectively.

The importance of understanding the student’s mother tongue because it is the foundation of a student’s learning.

In the classroom, it is important to understand culture versus race because race refers to the physical traits, while culture reflects traditions, values and ways of life that impacts how students learn and interact. We want to provide a an environment where each student feels safe, supported and encouraged to express their views.
